About The Artist: Ted Davies

Davies was born in Queens and for many years had large studio on 14th Street from which he could roam the city streets drawing inspiration for his work. He also lovingly restored and maintained a home in Sag Harbor. Another friend of Ted’s, Sag Harbor photographer Linda K. About The Medium: Woodcut

A relief process in which the image is cut in a block of wood with tools such as knives, goughers or chisels. The image is inked with a roller, paper is applied to the surface and the back is then rubbed by hand or with a rubbing tool, transferring the image to the paper.
