About The Artist: Nancy Klotzle

Nancy Klotzle received her arts education at the Museum School of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, and the Brattle Center of Arts in Cambridge, MA. Nancy recreates the paper stencil technique developed thousands of years ago in China and Japan, foregoing the use of plastic film stencils used by most modern silkscreen artists. About The Medium: Woodcut

A relief process in which the image is cut in a block of wood with tools such as knives, goughers or chisels. The image is inked with a roller, paper is applied to the surface and the back is then rubbed by hand or with a rubbing tool, transferring the image to the paper.
