About the artist:
Nancy Klotzle received her arts education at the Museum School of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, and the Brattle Center of Arts in Cambridge, MA. Nancy recreates the paper stencil technique developed thousands of years ago in China and Japan, foregoing the use of plastic film stencils used by most modern silkscreen artists. She has developed a unique ability to print on handmade Japanese rice papers, whose texture and patterns create unusual design elements in her work. Nancy's art flows directly from her early work as a landscape painter of the Impressionistic School, and reflects her love of nature, in the simplicity of its form and design. The Japanese word for this element of simple elegance is "Shibui" and this is easily seen in Nancy's uncluttered and graceful graphics.
