Artists Statement "My Paintings are about things seen in everyday life, roads, flowers, houses, hills and trees. They are not attempts to copy in specific detail, but to recall some of the shapes, colours and energy from situations observed, in order to make paintings in a personal and imaginative way." The colour surface and texture of the painting is as important as the imagery used in each work. During each painting session, I work on a number of paintings large and small, sometimes quickly and spontaneously and sometimes with caution and restraint. The struggle continues until areas of the surface interest me and seem 'right'. At this point the composition and subject become defined, and the painting takes on a life and energy of its own.
