About the artist:

Soni Wallace is a Fine Art Photographer and Painter, who focuses on the unusual. She has won many awards for her camera artistry. The surreal imagery in her work creates an emotional intimacy between herself and the viewer.

She is and was a legacy of passionate form and brilliant light shown in her creations and innovative unique styles in paintings during the 60's and 70's, as well as in design in the 80's and in photography. Soni's work shows amazing testimonial of survival, loss, and courage. It tells of her struggles with the Holocaust in Poland, and the war in England, the loss of family, and a courageous move to the US after the war to start a new life in 1950. After moving to New York City in the 60s, she was a pioneer in the field of the "women in art" movement. Her focus has always been on the light and joy of colors and infused by the love of nature, forms, and humanity depicted through the phenomenal world of her vision as projected within the mediums of painting and photography. In 1997, Soni used a Canon Elan and Kodak 100 / 36 exposure film. Her innovation and development of eclectic composition using PhotoShop was uniquely brilliant. She developed a unique style of using montage and infrared photography. She refused to submit to digital film. She was classic and unparalleled in her meticulously created works.

"My dream of a trip to Tuscany was realized in October 2006. My aim was to photograph the unusual and incorporate feelings and beauty in landscapes, street scenes, and exploring the daily life of the area. In Siena, the houses were old, with muted hues of ochre and turquoise, chipped and peeling paint visible. Laundry was displayed, facing the street, making for an eclectic view. The streets were dark and narrow, and I played tag with the light to highlight the shots of interest. All in all, a breathtaking experience."
